Some new items

I rented another booth..so I got to get busy.  I finished my Winter Chair and a bread box to put in my Heber Springs booth.  Thanks to Mary Beth my sister I found a great rocking chair to paint..only $12..don't have a photo yet..plus a rack for $2 that makes a perfect bowl rack.  Here is a photo of the bread box and chair...thought someone could use this chair on their porch for a small Christmas tree.  I sold my last halloween chair and thought Winter or Christmas would be the best to make now..since they will be having Christmas open house soon.  I love going up to the booth at Heber..the trees were really pretty today..makes you want to go out and walk in the woods or ride a four wheeler or mule and enjoy the fresh air.  We used to do that at the lakehouse and I really miss that..winter was more fun than summer.

Also went out to my sister's house and saw her new room she just redid...it was really nice...she is a very talented painter but she doesn't think so...I wish she would make some pictures for me or signs..she painted the cutest little table with a primitive moon and I love it plus an old window that she painted a cow and cat with lots of background..they were really great. Below is a  photo of her new buffet..we found it in Beebe and I think it is really old..all the drawers have key holes and it is really carved so beautiful..plus it has a bevel mirror that doesn't have nick or scratch on it..I think it is very old and she only paid $60...what a find.

I am making a few snowmen..I will try and post a photo later tonite...I need to paint some items to put in the Beebe booth and hopefully the chairs and tables at Heber will sell soon.
I sell stitchery epatterns and graphics on a site called the The Prim Pattern ...it is really a nice site and they are looking for pattern makers that would like to list on their site..they have a really great deal going..go there and check it out..I think they are going to be a really big site..so if you sell your patterns..this would be a good deal.  Check out some of their vendors...some great primitive patterns listed there.
Will try to add some photos later.  Also I have been trying to get in touch with Lee Hill Primitives...but with no luck..she won my giveaway..my ISP had email problems over the weekend and that may be the problem..but please tell her to contact me if you should talk to her..I need her address to mail her winnings..Thanks for any help.

Fall Giveaway Winner!

We have a winner of the Fall Giveaway..Thank you all so much for entering..this was fun and I hope to do another for Christmas..The Winner is "Lee Hill Primitives" Be sure to visit her blog..it is really neat.

I am sorry it took so long to post the winner but I was enjoying a visit from my daugher Mandy, her husband Will and my three grandaughters KK, Emma and Hanna..we had a great time.

Mandy has a sewing blog "The Sewing Closet" she just started..plus she made a lot of cute pillows for my booth at Heber Springs.  I will post a photo later today.

We also had another grandaughter who celebrated her birthday with a party at the bowling alley..Ariel..she was 9 years old yesterday and that was really fun.  Happy Birthday Ariel! I  wish I had taken my camera to get a photo of her..I had a lot of photos of my grandkids but my old computer crashed..I will have to post some in the coming weeks..
We have 15 grandchildren and they are all special kids...grandkids are a gift from God.
Ok..I am trying to post a lot in a short time..but here is a photo of a little pumpkinman..that I made for a new booth...I am also posting a drawing of his body so that you can make one yourself and finish him in your own style...he was fun to make.  Just click on the pattern then right click on the enlarged pattern to save it to your desktop to print..it is kind of a primitive drawing but maybe you can create one of your own from the drawing.

The pattern is sized 8.5x11" for printing but you can reduce it to make his little pal..
The large one is made out of cotton and painted with a blend of autumn oranges..added button eyes, handstitched nose and mouth ....plus a homespun scarf and a twig stem.  The pocket was stitched on after he was stuffed and I added some fall gatherings to accent it.  His little friend has handstitched nose and mouth and painted eyes with button trim.
These are both simple and easy to make..I am going to make some snowfolks from this pattern also..for the booth..

Below are photos of Mandy,KK,Emma Grace and Hanna...and some of the pillows Mandy made for our booth.
Also added a photo of a wall I rented at a local mall.

Just a couple more photos...first is my scarecrow on the front porch and second is door hanger that I purchase on a trip to north Arkansas...it is made from Milo...the heads are a really pretty autumn color...they also had milo stalks that were really pretty but I was afraid they would make a mess in my sisters trunk so I passed..after returnng home my son Michael who loves farming..told me that he was cutting a field of milo the next day for a neighbor..I hope he saved me some stalks.
If you live in the country..you could make one of these really easy..just wire the two top parts together and trim with some fall picks.  One year my husband went pheasant hunting and brought me home some large sunflower stalks..they were really neat the had dried sunflower heads that were really large and the birds enjoyed eating the seeds.  Corn stalks are great too.

Well better get off and get something done..hope you enjoyed this day...I love our cool weather and pretty fall leaves..my favorite time of the year.

"Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us, and establish thou the work of our hands upon us, yea, the work of our hands establish thou it."

Decorating for Fall

Well...just a little slow on getting started decorating my porch for Fall..Halloween and Thanksgiving.

Notice the 3 wee pumpkins on the little table..I pitched my pumpkins from last year to side of the house and these little ones grew right out of the old pumpkins..only trouble was that I threw them beside our house and we could not weed eat until last week.
So this year I will throw them in the back pasture so that they will have room to grow.

Here are a couple of photos I made last fall of our back pasture...I hope to take more this year..I love living in the country..I love the beautiful trees and views..the old barn went with our house...it is not as old as the house...we found records back to 1880  on the house but sadly the original 80 acres were sold off and we only have 5 .  But the land is still beautiful.

September 11th. Remembered

I could not let this day go by without posting about September 11th.  May we never forget what happened to  us on that day.

May we never forget what it means to be an American..
Our Heritage
Our Constitution
Our Freedom
Our Liberty
One Nation Under God, with libery and justice for all
The ultimate sacrafice made by those who came before us and gave their all...shed their blood..that we may remain free.
Let us not forget...for our freedom has been bought at a great price and the least we can do to honor their gift and memory is to not forget what it means to be an American.

May God.. Bless America, Our Troops and guide us as a nation and may we remember what it means to be an American and may we never forget.

Some Harvest Goodies

Good Morning...Today I am posting some new designs...I created these when I was making stitchery patterns for Ebay and my New
web page.

The first is a primitive crow and pumpkin stitchery pattern and the second image can be made into a gift tag or tag for your projects.

Simply right click to save to your computer desktop to print as many as you need.  Please  do not reproduce the graphics in any form for sale or trade..but you can use them on items you created to sell.

Use your own choice for the stitchery threads...you can trace it onto teadyed muslin..and stitch it up quickly...then it could be made into a little pillow ornie..or frame it in a wee frame.

I print my tags on Kraft cardstock...that way they are more durable.

Be sure to check out my Ebay store , my new web site "A Primitive Gathering" and my store on Instant Printables as I have listed some new items..such as stitchery, iron-on transfers, halloween pins.

On the Instant Printable site..you can download some of my graphics to use on your computer..such as Halloween graphics, tags ect.

You can use paypal on all my sites and be sure and check back often because I hope to give my blog followers special discounts to my Ebay Store.

Now here are the 2 new designs

Waxed Dipped Halloween Ornies

These are easy to create and make great decorations for Halloween Feather Trees, Wreaths, Peg Racks...I hang my on kitchen cabinet nobs, cupboards, shelves and in my windows.

First you prepare your saltdough:
Ingredients:
1tsp. cooking oil
1 cup of fine salt
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of water,,you may need to add more

Instructions:
Combine salt and water in sauce pan..heat til salt melts..this makes your dough less grainy
In a large mixing bowl add flour then salt/water mixture and cooking oil.
Now the fun part..great stress release..knead dough until smooth and form in a ball
On sheet of wax paper sprinkle a small amount of flour..take a handful of dough from ball and roll out to about 1/4" thickness with a rolling pin.
For the Pumpkin Ornies I use a biscuit cutter..you can use different size cutters..if you don't have a biscuit cutter use a spice jar plastic lid or any lid that gives you the desired size.
Make hanger hole with plastic straw before you bake ornies.
Now take a cookie sheet and cover with a layer of parchment bakers paper...then place your dough ornie on the sheet not touching and bake in preheated oven 250 degrees for approx. 2 to 2.5 hours.
Remove from oven and let cool for a couple of hours.

Next paint each ornie with orange paint..a sponge brush is a good tool for this.
Now have fun creating each pumpkin face...I really enjoy doing this..To paint eyes I use the tip of a tooth pick, ends of paint brushes...I also cut wee stencils from paper
flyers that are stuck inside your magazines..these are great for stencils.

After paint is completely dry..Dip orinie in scented wax mixture. I usually only dip each ornie once as this gives a lovely finish and doesn't cause wax build up which makes your ornie look cloudy.

Recipe for wax dip:

Fill a medium sauce pan..one that you are not going to use for cooking..with water about 3/4 full then take an empty tin can such as large peach can, coffee can. Place tin can in water...this makes a great double boiler...now break up pieces of paraffin wax into small pieces and place inside tin can..heat water gently til it boils..wax will melt fairly fast

(IMPORTANT do not overheat as WAX is flammable if overheated....never leave it unattended while melting.)

After wax is completely melted..you can switch burner off while you dip your ornies
Right before dipping I add my favorite scented oil.

Bend a 6" piece of blacken craft wire into the shape of a candy cane..this is what you will use to dip your ornie...thread bent end of wire thur hole in orie...this makes a great hook..dip ornie completely into wax mixture..making sure all the ornie is submerged..then take out and palce on wax paper to cool.

Now you have a yummy scented ornie for your projects..simply thread hanger of choice thur hole after ornies cool. I like the blacken wire hangers for a primitive look.

In the past I have used all types of cookie cutters to create ornies..I often cut out shapes from cardboard and after rolling out dough simply cut around the shape..black cats designs are really cute for Halloween.

I hope will try this and enjoy making these cute items..I don't recommend this craft for kids as the hot wax is not safe for children..but you can save your left over dough and let your kids cut out shapes...then mom can bake them for the kids to paint..just leave off the wax dipping.

Wrap your leftover dough in plastic wrap and place in airtight container and place in frig to use another day.

Thanks for viewing

Welcome!

This is my new blog...I will be posting items I create for my Ebay, Etsy, Prim Sisters Shop, Instant Printables ect.

I also hope to add some free graphics for you to use in your crafting projects.

I love Fall..it is my favorite time of the year..I can't wait for the weather to turn cool and the leaves to start turning..the only problem is that is seems to be too short.

I love Halloween and like creating items from vintage graphics...I haven't got to decorate my porch yet..hope to do so this week.

Above is a chair I created for my booth in Heber Springs Flea Market..I made some pillows an ornies to add to my booth. The chair was lots of fun to do and it sold fairly quick..so I went out and bought 6 more chairs...I finished two but didn't get photos of them..One is another Halloween chair and the other had a great back but no seat so I make it into a plant chair and decorated it with crows ...in the seat I place an old dishpan which my husband painted with a primer which was kind of a clay color and I drybrushed with gold and orange..it turned out really cute.

I also did a small chest with a door in country red with crows..so far they are still in my booth hope they sell really soon as I have two antique wooded folding chairs already base coated and ready to decorate..don't know what theme yet but I imagine it will be a autumn them.

And last but not least is a tag I created which you can save to your desktop and use to make tags for your projects or personal items. Simply right click and save to desktop to use with your printer..It should be approx. 2x3"...print in on brown kraft cardstock....then cut, punch hole and thread with hanger of choice.

Be sure and check back often..I have lots more free goodies for you to use.
